Our Story

The Temple Society aims to protect the historic fabric and improve and enhance the western boundary of the Temple. The area is captivating and includes many unique buildings to view and visit. The western boundary of the Temple comprises Devereux Court, Essex Street and Little Essex Street.

Temple appears as a well-preserved area. However, in recent years the areas outside Middle and Inner Temple Inns, namely Essex St and Devereux Ct, have been deeply neglected and over commercialised. These areas are outside the vicinities of the Middle and Inner Temple Inns, thus presenting unique challenges.

The Society's objective is to create a platform for people who live and work here, to ensure that the area's heritage is preserved for future generations. We hear about concerns and explore solutions. This includes matters of litter, nuisance, traffic, planning, and elevating the area's heritage.
